Naomi Harte

Dr. Harte is an Associate Professor in Digital Media Systems in the School of Engineering at Trinity College Dublin.

Since taking up her post as the SFI Lecturer in Digital Media Systems at Trinity College Dublin in 2008, Dr. Harte has established an independent research effort in human-to-human and human-to-machine speech communication. Her principal areas of focus are speech quality, audio visual speech processing, speaker verification for biometrics and emotion in speech.

She is a member of the highly successful Sigmedia Research Group in the School of Engineering. She has won personal research funds in excess of 2 Million during this time and is a Co-PI in the new €50Million SFI ADAPT Centre, as well as a funded investigator at the CONNECT Centre. She has published widely in peer reviewed conferences and journals. In 2015, she was a Visiting Professor at ISCI in Berkeley, CA, USA. She has numerous technology patents and licences through her ongoing collaboration with tech giant Google in the USA. She has successfully made the challenging transition from industry to academia. Her industrial experience in high-tech R&D start-ups continues to bring a real-world agenda to her research.

Dr. Harte invites applicants with proposals in her research areas, up to Level 2 experience. Research topics that align with her industry collaborations are particularly welcomed.
