Deirdre has over 13 years’ research administration and management experience in national, EU and international funding, and was awarded in 2016 a Certificate in Research Management from the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA). She holds an MSc in Applied Environmental Geology (University of Wales, Cardiff) and a BSc (Hons) in Earth Sciences (NUI Galway). She has extensive experience of consortium building, grant and budget preparation and proposal writing, particularly in the EU Framework programmes.
In 2015, Deirdre joined the AMBER team from the Research Development Office in Trinity College Dublin where she worked as Science Foundation Ireland portfolio manager, advising on all SFI funding programmes. Prior to that, Deirdre worked as Peer Review Committee Secretary (Earth Sciences) in the Natural Environment Research Council in the UK. In AMBER, Deirdre has responsibility for the direction and implementation of the Centre’s international (non-exchequer) research funding strategy. <
