Dr. Ramesh graduated from the Department of Chemical Technology, University of Bombay, India in 1998 with a Ph.D in Chemistry. He has over 15 years of experience in polymeric materials, nanocomposites and characterisation.
Before joining TCD he worked in Clariant Gmbh and Asahi-Kasei Corporation, Japan, Central development and research labs where his work involved developing polymer based products for various applications including membranes, packaging films, foams and automotive components. Dr. Ramesh is Principal Investigator and Senior Research Fellow in TCD’s School of Physics & CRANN and leads the Polymeric Materials and Nanocomposite group (www.physics.tcd.ie/pmnc). He is also a principal investigator in the Competence Centre for Bio energy and Bio refinery established and led by industry. Dr. Ramesh is Director of Bioplasetch, a spin out SME from UCD, which produces bio-based polymers and fine chemicals from renewable resources. Dr. Ramesh’s work in AMBER includes collaboration with Medtronic, Mergon, Innovative Polymer Compounds and Bioplastech in developing novel polymer composites for medical devices and automotive applications. He collaborates with Prof. Mick Morris and engages with Millipore, Depuy and Henkel in developing the products based on novel polymer systems.
