Dr. Nicola Marchetti is currently Associate Professor at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. He is a funded investigator of CONNECT and the Trinity PI for the CHIST-ERA project FIREMAN (Framework for the Identification of Rare Events via MAchine learning and IoT Networks).
He received the PhD in Wireless Communications from Aalborg University, Denmark in 2007, and the M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from University of Ferrara, Italy in 2003. He also holds an M.Sc. in Mathematics which he received from Aalborg University in 2010.
He worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Ferrara in 2003-2004. He then was a PhD student in 2004-2007 and a Research and Teaching Post-Doc in 2007-2010 at Aalborg University.
His collaborations include research projects in cooperation with Samsung, Nokia Siemens Networks, Huawei, Intel Mobile Communications among others. He has authored in excess of 130 journals and conference papers, 2 books and 8 book chapters, and holds 4 patents.
His research interests include 5G Wireless Communication Systems, Cognitive Radio and Dynamic Spectrum Access, Complex Systems Science, Integrated Optical-Wireless Networks, Multiple Antenna Systems, Radio Resource Management, Small Cells and HetNet, and Waveforms.
Dr. Marchetti is particularly interested in working with EDGE Fellows in the following areas:
• Study of the time evolution of dynamical complex communication networks.
• Complex systems science based PHY layer-aware modeling, analysis and tuning of future communication networks.
• Exploring the relation between complexity, degeneracy and fitness in future communication networks.
