Dr. John D. Kelleher is a lecturer in the School of Computing at the School of Computing in Dublin Institute of Technology.
John was awarded a PhD from Dublin City University in 2003. The topic of his PhD was integrating language and vision for multi-modal interactive systems. This PhD topic integrated research in spatial cognition, dialog systems and computer graphics and this research informed the work John carried out in Robot Dialogue systems as part of the FP6 Cognitive Systems project called CoSy (http://www.cognitivesystems.org/).
John joined DIT in 2005 and since that time he research has primarily used machine learning methodologies. In 2015, John published a machine learning textbook with MIT Press entitled ‘Fundamentals of Machine Learning for Predictive Data Analytics: Algorithms, Worked Examples and Case Studies (https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/fundamentals-machine-learning-predictive-data-analytics). John currently supervises research projects in Machine Learning, Machine Translation, Agent Simulation for Epidemiology, Data Visualisation, Music Information Retrieval, Activity Recognition, and Dialogue Systems and Multi-modal Interaction.
